How to Play

Play Feed the Animals online for free. Feed the Animals is a 10-stage timed Mahjong Connect game where you connect each animal to the food it eats using a line that turns no more than twice and does not pass through any other stones or crates on the board. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Select the Play button on the right side of the welcome screen to start the game.
Underneath the Play button are buttons for how to play Help, High Scores, and More Games.
The lower left corner of the welcome screen has a language select dropdown.
The lower right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for social media sharing and reading game developer information.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse left click button to select a feed or animal tile & then select a related tile which goes with the other to pair them off.
  - Touchscreen devices
    - Tap the screen with a finger to select feed & animal tiles which pair off to remove them from the board.
    - Controls & indicators
      - The right rail of the game contains the controls.
        At the top it shows your level number, cumulative game score, and remaining time to beat the current level.
        Next there are buttons for taking a hint or shuffling the remaining tiles.
        At the bottom are buttons to pause the game, switch to full screen mode, control game sound, and control game music.
        Game Play
        Tile matching
        This is a Mahjong Connect game where players must match adjacent tiles, or tiles which can be connected by a straight line that turns at 90 degrees no more than twice & does not pass through any crates or any other stones.
        The connecting line can expand beyond the grid the stones are in.
        Rather than connecting identical tiles, players must connect each animal to a food they eat. Matches include:
        Cow and hay
        Mouse and cheese
        Dog and bone
        Butterfly and flower
        Fox and green apple
        Bunny and carrots
        Panda and bamboo shoots
        Snake and frog
        Bear and honey
        Chicken and caterpillar
        Monkey and bananas
        Pigs (or wild boar) and truffles
        Squirrels and acorns
        You can select either the food or the animal first, then select its match.
        As you progress through the game more animal & food types are added to each level.
        When no valid matches remain the stones are automatically shuffled.
        Conversely, this means that if the stones do not shuffle there is at least one open match remaining.
        Automated shuffles do not cost you point.
        Levels
        This game has 10 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        You get 7 minutes to complete each level, but later levels are harder due to:
        more crates which block your paths
        a broader range of animals inside the levels, which makes neighboring matches less likely
        You can’t go back and replay previously beat levels without starting the game over from the first level.
        Some Mahjong Connect games fill tiles in as you make matches. This game does not fill in any direction and tiles remain in their original positions unless you manually shuffle the tiles or an automated shuffle happens.
        When manual or automated shuffles happen not only do the stones move, but the crates that can block your paths also move.
        Strategy
        The corner pieces tend to be the easiest to match since they can match in either direction.
        Early in the level try to make many easy matches to help open up interior pathways around the level to compliment the exterior paths.
        If you get stuck don’t be afraid to use a hint or two, as each hint is equivalent to 10 seconds worth of time-based points earnings.
        If you want to try to earn a large chain bonus try to map out a number of matches in advance and match animals that are a good distance from each other so you have time to keep the chain going.
        Scoring
        Your game score is cumulative across levels.
        Scoring points
        You earn 50 points for each tile pair you match.
        Chain bonus
        A chain bonus applies if you remove a second tile pair while the first pair is still connected.
        The chain bonus starts at 30, then goes to 60, and so on for each subsequent pair you include in a chain.
        When you match items that have a good deal of distance between them it gives you more time to make subsequent matches in the chain.
        You earn 5 points for each second you have remaining when a level is completed.
        Spending points
        Using a hint costs 50 points.
        Shuffling tiles manually costs 200 points.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like Mahjong Connect tile match games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
