How to Play

Play Defense of the Kingdom online for free. Defense of the Kingdom is a simple 9-stage tower defense game where you must outlast and conquer an invading evil army of skeletons. Use the money you collect to pay for more warriors to fight for your cause. Beat all 9 levels to unlock survival mode. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
Select Music On/Off to enable or disable the game’s audio.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

        Controls and indicators
        The coins you currently have (and can earn) are shown on the top left corner.
        To upgrade your coin collection, select the button on the top right corner.
        The knights you can summon to your army are shown on the bottom row.
        Game Play
        Level selection
        At the start of the game, only the first level is playable.
        Every level comes with tutorial text to help you play the game.
        Levels are unlocked sequentially. Finish one level to unlock the next.
        You can replay any level you have already unlocked.
        Basic rules
        Summon an army using the coins you have collected.
        Fight off enemy troops and destroy the enemy castle.
        Building an army
        Earn coins.
        You slowly earn coins over time. The maximum amount of coins you can earn is shown on the top left corner along with the coins you have.
        To increase your coin capacity, buy more capacity using the button on the top right corner.
        You can also collect coins by your soldiers picking them up as the enemy drops them.
        Spend your coins on soldiers.
        Soldiers are arranged from left to right in increasing expense.
        As a rule, more expensive soldiers have more hit points.
        As you progress through the game more soldier options are unlocked.
        Choose a diversified army that doesn’t focus on any one thing.
        Melee soldiers fare better against skeletons that fight hand-to-hand.
        Soldiers that fire arrows fare better against magic-using skeletons and low-power skeleton soldiers from a distance.
        Have a cadre of cheaper soldiers to bolster your more expensive elite troops.
        Soldier prices
        Spearman costs 30 coins.
        Archer costs 50 coins.
        Armed knight costs 80 coins.
        Elite archer costs 110 coins.
        Elite armed knights cost 140 coins.
        On the fourth level you also get a defensive booster which drops boulders from your castle. Using this costs nothing, but it takes time to recharge in between uses.
        Destroy the castle.
        To destroy the castle, you must have a sizeable army of soldiers
        You need this both to repel its defenders and destroy the castle itself.
        By having numerical superiority on your side, you can both destroy the castle and thwart attempts to turn the tide even if you don’t succeed.
        Make sure to keep producing troops to keep your own castle well defended even as they go out destroying the enemy base.
        Initially it makes sense to make a mix of spearmen and archers.
        As you begin to saturate the enemy castle area your spearmen will take most of the damage, so it makes sense to focus on melee infantry.
        Strategy shift
        In earlier levels you can make a mix of spearmen and archers to beat most opponents without much need or use for strategy.
        As you get about halfway through the game the opponent sends sizeable waves of enemies at you off the start, so it is beneficial not to create one soldier at a time or the waves of forces will easily mow them down.
        Instead it helpful to save up your treasury so that you can create many infantry at once & use the castle defense boulder throw to augment your forces.
        If you are near your coin carrying limit purchase upgrades to your capacity.
        When the opponents are near your castle throw stones at them and create many fighters to then charge forward.
        Survival mode
        The game has 9 regular levels. When you have beat all 9 you unlock survival mode.
        In survival mode there are so many enemies thrown at you that it is hard to fight them off and you’ll eventually die before you can ever make it to their castle.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for players who like simple castle defense games.
        The game has no adult themed content.
